Come Worship Texas

April 30, 2008

Wow!!! What an amazing event Come Worship, Texas was. Pillar, Skillet, Jeremy Camp, Mercyme, Francis Chan, and Jeff Johnson all did an amazing job. When we first got there, there was a little bit of confusion at the Will Call table with our tickets. Jeff Johnson and the coordinator of Come Worship, Texas left us with Free Tickets and Free upgrades to the Artist Circle but apparently they didn’t have them. It was neat to see how people came to our rescued and ushered us in with no more hangups. What was so interesting about this will call hiccup was that a Backstage pass was left also, IN MY NAME!!! How awesome was that!!! Wes Martin a guitarist for Jeff took me back there and I was able to meet all the artist in the Greenroom and hangout with them for about an hour. For the concert, I made sure that the students had walkie talkies for the whole afternoon so that they could communicate with me without having to call on their cell phones. While I was in the greenroom, I made sure that I RUBBED it in that several artist that were supposed to perform on stage within the next couple of hours were sitting next to me eating greenroom food. How special that was when I returned to the group and they were COMPLETELY Jealous lol. It was an incredible night to see all the artist perform in their own special way. By far, Skillet was our groups favorite group because my students were not used to that type of music. Actually there were a lot of OLDER adults there to listen to Mercyme and I know for sure that they were NOT used to that type of music either. Funny thing is, I saw a senior citizen lady who would go great with our outstanding Gospel Gold Choir, jumping up and down to skillets song, “whispers in the dark!1!” Jeremy Camp, Mercyme did an amazing job energizing the crowd and showing how awesome our God is. Jeff Johnson and Francis Chan led an incredible time of worship in between sets. Francis talked a couple of times on what it means to have our plans, “ruined” so that God’s plans can be “established within our lives.” He told us a story on a guy whose life was ruined just by a simple birthday party. Mission Arlington + Easter + Super Summer stuff = Chaos

April 3, 2008

Wow!!! March flew by incredibly fast. I think it was because of all things that was happening during that month. The students had an incredible time at Mission Arlington and I am so thankful for the willingness for all the students that went. We were able to work at the Mission Arlington Easter store, distributing clothes and Easter baskets to low income families. We also moved about 8 full palettes of canned goods, moved a couple families out of their apartment and into assisted living at Mission Arlington. We picked up trash around other apartments played with the most precious kids on this planet and we lead a small condensed vacation bible school program called, Rainbow Express. It was incredible. Did I mention that it was pouring the very first day we were there? The very first day of our Mission Arlington experience involved rain, and lots of it. We got to Mission Arlington offices and got some of our room assignments for the week. When we got there, we immediately unpacked so that we could hurry back and get to work. Well after we unpacked, I get a phone call from the main office saying that we had to move locations due to some bad plumbing problem. We were relocated about 20 minutes away at a church (east meadows baptist) and we were thoroughly blessed there. They opened the doors with amazing hospitality and it was a real treat being able to stay there. When we got settled the rain lightened up a little and we were excited that Mission Arlington was letting us go into the “mission field” and work outside. Well when we got to the apartments we were assigned to, it STARTED TO POUR!!! God immediately taught us that there is work to be done no matter what the condition is. We picked up trash at this apartment and then quickly moved to another location to run our Rainbow express. By the time we reached our second destination, the rain started pour harder and it got colder. Even though we were soaked, we reached an agreement just to see if any kids came out. Well after we knocked on all the apartment doors, 7 KIDS and Parents decided to come out and play. In THE RAIN!!! In the COLD RAIN!!! It was a great day all around.

It’s been a busy month and I’m looking forward to see what God has in store for us this next month. Thank you for your support of our ministry
